We have enough trouble taking care of our current relevant artifacts. Where would we put it? What is it's significance to our visitors. Who is going to move it, set it up and prevent it from being just another lump of iron?
I can state from lots of museum experience, inanimate objects rarely have any interest to the general public.
Case in point where are our visitors unless it is a rainy day?
In the steam building
In the Massie building
Watching the models on the steam table
Watching the running engines near the big boiler.
Watching exhibitors engines in the display field.
Just my 2 cents worth

If you search "asher
ironer" the first 2 posts, the only ones relevant,
are from this gentleman and at least one of
them has a photo with it. The
unit would
appear to have cloth belting as part of the surface that
the
cloth rides on as it passes through the
machine. I think that means it
would have
to go indoors. The photo would also suggest that an
electric
motor has been fitted onto it for
driving it. Right now I'm assuming steam
is only used to press out wrinkles. We would
have to fit it with its own
engine or drive
it from a line shaft. Dave is right, there is virtually
no
other information online that I can
find. It's old, and it's rare, but is
it relevant?
