Hey All,

Another day of rain and chilly weather...but all is not lost as we had the opportunity to work inside and did get a few things accomplished.

Dave worked the inventory in the Wireless Bld'g while Len helped clean up the shop area. The shop had been in pretty bad condition and really needed the cleaning. I think we all should take notice of the signs posted around the shop about cleaning up after ourselves. There is still a few items to be done but are minor and shouldn't take very long to do.

Randy had a good idea about demonstrating how the steam engines were applied to work that needed to be done. A good example is the Sawmill.
We have a few engines sitting around doing nothing but displaying themselves turning a flywheel. We should be able to conjure up an application for at least a couple of them. We have two engines outside near the boiler that could be put to work doing something that demonstrates the ability to put steam to a practical use. I'm sure we can figure out a way to apply those engines or even the smaller engines in the Steam Bld'g to do some work around the campus even if we have to go scrounge additional equipment to make it happen. Let's put our heads in gear and see if we can come up with some ideas for this!

I think there is an old belt driven lathe in the storage room of the Wireless Bld'g...maybe we could put that to use. There is also .....if I remember right..... the remnants of an overhead line shaft in the Cedar Grove we may be able to resurrect. We can check the above storage room for any more items that may be useful.

We may be able to move the engines next to the boiler to where the wood pile is located and build a covered shed... like we have for the oil engine ......to house a demonstration set up. We could then build a wood shed next to the boiler to make it easier at Steam Up to fire the boiler without hauling wood back and forth.

Good weather if fast approaching and the grass is beginning to grow. The weather is supposed to be in the fifties next week and I think we will be in for our first mowing.

Next Thursday we may get to work outside and gather the wood from the trees that have been cut down before any more of it disappears.

Our Thanks to all who participated Thursday.

Best regards,

LOU
