Hey Ken,
The closest I've come to military is the AA5-based sets that
Hallicrafters and National made. However, I could certainly learn how to
work on them. Once I'm confident enough, I might take a go at the Scott.
I wouldn't be able to do anything about the plating, but I'm fairly
confident I could make it play again. I could definitely put together a
class of sorts on repair. I think there's a few AA5s in the basement of
the Mayes Building that would be good starter sets, although I think most
of them may have ended up in the upstairs display under the windows.
