Hi Karen,
Very good to hear from you and especially good to hear the news that you
and your family survived the hurricane and torrential flooding. Donna and I
are doing fine - just getting a little older each year.
We have a great group of volunteers at NEWSM now who get together every
Thursday morning to do chores, upkeep and improvements at the museum. It
sounds like October 18'th will work out best, as buildings will be unlocked
and we could consider running one or two of Ray's engines for you. We had a
very successful Steam Up last Saturday with record attendance, plus
excellent weather. I had two of Ray's engine models out for display on the
air table - the Little Julianna from 1806 and the semi-cylinder engine from
the 1846 US Navy Warship Princeton.
Once again, good to hear from you. I've copied your message to a number of
the volunteers at the museum.
Tim

Subject: HELLO Hello!
Dear Tim & Donna:
HOW ARE YOU?? How is The NEWSM?
Our transition from New York to North Carolina has truly been time consuming
and Life Changing. We are NOW thanking The Good Lord for having spared our
premises during the onslaught of Historic Damages during Hurricane
Florence...
She Bulls Eyed Southport--Record Storm Surge/Sea + Historic Rainfall/Flooding
+ mortality made this an event that painfully effected so many.
We evacuated to Raleigh where my husband Gerald's son and my son each
Have a residence--we rode out the event in safety,
But we were simply horrified to witness the aftermath as we rode back
home...God was so Good to us...our neighbors, not so much as they were torn
asunder.
What a Christening to our 1st Hurricane
Season "down heah"!
SO, How are you folks? I Think MUCH and often of NEWSM...and You folks &
Bob & Nancy...I pray they are doing well, and have wished so often that we
could have been North for the 2017 & 2018 Yankee Steamup Affair! I MISS
Dad-Ray as ever, & I feel closest to him @ the NEWSM & @ the Rondout
Waterfront in Kgn. NY where he liked to launch Tinkertoy @ play on the
river😉
I AM ECSTATIC to say: Jerry & I are coming North for a few weeks to take
care of Real Estate issues in NY. AND
I HAVE HIM "HOOKED" on the wonders of Dad-Ray's connection to NEWSM & you
wonderful people!
(Jerry is Retired from the Coast Guard) and managed to fit in a career
in Electronics with IBM--he's a truly a CLONE of Dad 😁!! He is quite my
'senior'
And was actually on-IBM-site with Dad in NY, but they never crossed paths)
SO...Tim, would it be possible, we pray,
For us to bivouac with you @ NEWSM--
so we could see the premises, especially Dad's items...AND his tree planted
by youall in Memory of Dad...(for which I NEVER remembered to remunerate you
And I am mortified...WILL rectify that when we see you!)
If a meeting @ NEWSM can be arranged, I will be forever grateful, Tim,
and the date could hopefully be a day around 10/16 - 20? We are crossing
fingers.
I have been envisioning this in my mind for almost 2 years now, and was so
happy to see your Christmas Cards🎄.
Be Safe & healthy, Folks--say hello to
Bob from Ray's daughter and I hope he can still remember his good 'ol
days...
I hope to hear from you soon.
Very Best Regards,
Karen HasBrouck
& Husband, Gerald Corkins
