This device from the early 1900s is used to teach Morse Code or Continental Code. It has a spring driven clock works that rotates bumps on an aluminum disk against an electrical contact. The bumps on the aluminum code disk contain patterns of Morse Code characters. When the bumps touch the electrical contact the circuit to an external oscillator or sounder is completed and beeps come out of the speaker or head phones or clicks from the sounder. An adjustable governor is used to control the speed of the Morse Code. When the code disk completes one revolution the contact moves down to the next code disk in the stack. When the stack is completed the contact moves back to the top disk. The disks are removable so you can change them from a large selection.
