Fairbanks-Morse Vertical Type T Special Electric

This Fairbanks-Morse & Company Type T engine, Serial Number 36684, was manufactured in 1904 in Chicago, Illinois.

The engine came with a small DC generator, cooling water tank, muffler, and all of the associated plumbing. The plan is to reassemble everything to make it a running display.

The engine is designed to run on Gasoline, but with modifications it can also run on Illuminating Gas, Natural Gas, Naphtha, Petroleum Distillate, Kerosene, Alcohol,  or Crude Oil. Running on fuels other than gasoline required heating the engine before starting.

We need to make some measurements so we can determine if this engine is a 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, or 12 HP version.
