During the Tune-Up event we had a visitor who I call the TV guy because I
can't remember his name. He had encyclopedic knowledge of early radio and
TV equipment. I gave him a tour of everything in the museum because he knew
everything about everything in the collection.
He pointed out a somewhat nondescript early radio piled under several other
early radios in the storage area in the wireless building. He said that it
was made by Clap-Eastham in Cambridge, MA and it should be taken care of. I
dug it out today and posted some pictures of it on the Facebook Radios from
the 1920s group. A guy from Phoenix was surprised to find that we also had
a 1916 vintage Clap-Eastham Type-D Commercial Receiver because he thought
that his was the only one on the planet. I guess that there are two known
to exist now. Maybe we should put it on display with the other Clap-Eastham
equipment because it is interesting looking and very rare.
Ours looks a little different from the one in Phoenix, and looks like it
never had the maker's badges installed. We need to look for the earphones
and either a Ferron or Pericon crystal detector that went with it to make
it complete.

This is the other one in Phoenix.
