Back in 2016, Duffy Egan retired from his job as a TV and radio station engineer. Over the course of many years he had collected many unique and valuable (at least to some people) radios. Duffy told me that if I did  not take some of them home, they were going in the dumpster. So, I went to Duffy’s home to check things out. When I arrived I immediately noticed the dumpster in the driveway!
He had an amazing collection! And most items were in the categories of either large or massive. I gladly took a number small and large radios. I encouraged Duffy to take at least a few with him.I recall a gigantic RCA Anniversary console that I had to leave behind. I did bring home a nice E. H. Scott console (almost 5 feet tall and easily 150 pounds) and other rare and impressive items. One awesome, but colossal unit was a 1951 Zenith model H3267R entertainment center: porthole style TV, AM/FM radio, and Cobra turntable. I turned down the TV. It was amazing , but I was running out of space at home. A couple days later, after Duffy had left, I relented and returned to his garage (Duffy told me where the key was). The TV went home with me.
Now, due to our generous director, Randy, I was able to remove the console from my shed and deliver it to the museum. When you decide to check it out you will find it in the rear of Massie right next to the 1950’s projection TV. I still need to put all the controls back on, but the various shields and partitions are in place thanks to help from Dave Crowell, KA1EDP. I polished the cabinet with Howard’s Restore A Finish (good stuff) and it is looking great. I intend to get the radio and turntable working. I may leave the TV to someone smarter than me.
