I remember hearing about the modernized version.I believe the spaceship landed at Conimicut Pointin Warwick.I was living in Conimicut at the time.
I could not see the spaceships.Not sure if I was drinking yet.

 That's my yearly tradition!  There was a "modernized" version done by WPRO in the seventies (I think).  I found it once online, but I misplaced it.  If I remember correctly, they also got into trouble over it.
