[Thursday] New web addresses

One thing I can say is that once getting a name you MUST not let it lapse. Cybersquatter will grab it (if they see it has traffic) and you have to pay $$$ to get it back. I've seen this happen numerous times, and go to the site and its all ads and spam etc (or worse).

What happens is that the organization forgets to renew, the email address associated with it has changed with NEWSM staff, and no one sees the numerous reminders, and it expires and someone else grabs it.

While on this topic, I use Godaddy.com for managing these things. You pay a little more but when needing help, you get an American support person and they are very professional and helpful no matter what the issue. Which is why they are so big.

A couple people mentioned that we should grab some domain names related to Steam Up. This is both to protect our brand, and in case we wanted to create a separate web page for Steam Up that might be easier for people to remember.

We now have :
www.yankeesteamup.com<http://www.yankeesteamup.com>
www.yankeesteam.com<http://www.yankeesteam.com>
www.yankeesteamup.org<http://www.yankeesteamup.org>

that all redirect back to the NEWSM page for the time being.

With any luck, the NY Yankees will want to buy Yankeesteam.com at some point in the future and send us some big money!
