Very neat stuff Len.  It seems so incredibly simple.  I am intrigued by the
shunt switch in the motor speed circuit.  They have the variable resistor
to set motor speed and a simple shorting of another resistor to speed it up
temporarily for alignment with the source.  You have to love the elegance
of old time simplicity!  This goes a long way toward us getting one working
someday too.
