And in a probably most famous movie scene involving cartridge start (and yes this was an actual experimental plane that was built for the movie, which crashed in filming when it hit a berm on a low pass, and killed Paul Mantz in 1965). It's a fun scene due to the tension between the exacting but difficult German engineer (Hardy Kruger) , and the not-as-exacting and equally difficult captain (Jimmy Stewart). Richard Attenborough played the diplomatic copilot between the two keeping them working together resulting in this contraption...
