Steve Dalessio Appointed
New APM Executive Director
The American Precision Museum’s Board of Trustees is pleased to
announce the appointment of Steve Dalessio as its new Executive Director.
He succeeds Ann Lawless, who retired in 2018 after serving as director for
15 years. Dalessio will implement the museum’s mission and goals in
innovative and creative ways, overseeing the daily operations, budget, and
fundraising, in addition to refining the museum’s long-range strategy and
interpretative plan.
Dalessio brings to the position over 40 years of experience in the
machine tool industry and non-profits. Prior to his appointment, he chaired
the museum’s board of trustees. In addition to his extensive manufacturing
and business experience, he is an active member of his community, serving
as an elected official and volunteering his time and expertise to both
youth and adult organizations.
“APM provides the foundation for the story of American manufacturing,”
said Dalessio recently. “Its significant machine tool collection and the
story it tells about how manufacturing transformed our country needs to be
preserved and expanded. I am excited to work with the staff and board in
developing and telling this story.”
Search Committee Chair Eric Gilbertson said: “Steve has demonstrated
strong leadership as chair of the museum’s board of trustees for the past
several years. He brings a deep understanding of APM as a museum and a
non-profit organization and decades of experience operating machine tools
and connecting with the machine tool industry, an important audience and
supporter of the museum. We look forward to working with Steve as he
directs the museum’s transformation plan.”

*Aschaeur Workbench Gifted to APM *
*by Aschaeur Granddaughters*
The workbench, made by master machinist and toolmaker John Aschauer, known
for his extraordinary machine tool miniatures, was donated to APM by his
granddaughters: Laura Wooten, Paula Mcfarland, and Claudia Gabriel (far
left in photo, l-r). They drove from Minnesota to deliver the bench and are
pictured with the APM Board of Trustees.

*Museum Docent Training at APM *
Discovering and illuminating the inherent or hidden meaning of an
artifact, whether it’s a Robbins & Lawrence machine tool at APM or a Van
Gogh painting, is fundamental to an effective and successful museum program.
Director of Education and Interpretation, Scott Davison, is leading a
32-hour workshop to train museum staff, volunteers, and anyone interested
in a museum or heritage interpretation career. The program focuses on
creating opportunities for visitors to discover personal connections to our
artifact collection and exhibits.
If you’re interested in becoming a museum docent, educator, or
interpretive tour guide, this workshop is invaluable. Nationally recognized
certification is one of the options available at the completion of the
workshop. Contact Scott Davison for more information.
*Workshop Dates:* *Monday - Thursday, December 2-5, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m*.
