[Thursday] Engine show

Just to update all of the newer volunteers, our Massie Station secured a
new call sign last year of N1EPJ. We are listed as the Massie Wireless
Radio Club. We had the four members necessary to be considered a club.
Anyone who would also like to be listed as a member, please let me know.

As amateur radio station, N1EPJ is operational. Last year we also replaced
the collapsed antenna. We now have an OCF (off-center-fed) dipole for use
on the amateur bands.

I am still in the process of obtaining new QSL cards to send out to any
contacts we make from the Massie Station. It’s not a necessary thing these
days but the cards help to preserve the old-school method of acknowledging
contacts, as does the station logbook. It’s a nice way to see an account of
the activity of the station.

Although station activity has been minimal since becoming operational
again, my plan was, and still is, to get on the air for an hour or so early
Thursday mornings before getting busy with projects. Also, it is quite
feasible that we could operate Massie as a Field Day station with a bunch
of hams next June. Field Day to amateur radio is like what Steam up is to
the Museum. It’s a big radio weekend.

Along those lines, a remote station at Point Judith would be cool. We can
talk about that on Thursday.

Thanks,
Craig
