CHAPTER TWO(continued from Chapter One)
As it turned out there was plenty of firewood and many hands to help carry it from the wood pile to the boiler...the local Boy Scouts of America very generously offered the help of the Troop not only with the firewood but also the food prep and general help as was needed.. The day started early for many of the villagers as there was much to do to set the day in motion. The coffee was made and consumed and when the donuts arrived more coffee was  put to use in digesting the donuts which came from the local unbeatable donut shop. The tents were set set up at the vendor's  and general admissions gate with tables and chairs. The surrounding villagers began to arrive right on time and all was ready...The BIG DAY was here!!  The vendors came and set up the exhibits for the villagers to see and hear and marvel at the expertise of engineering feats presented. All sorts of model engines running on either steam or air were on display for all to see. The big engines in the steam building were not ignored on this BIG DAY They were put through their operation by the volunteer villagers who expertly displayed the magnificence of the minds of the engineers and manufacturers who designed and built them.   Every corner of the grounds were attended, every building and the contents were scrutinized and the villagers were very happy they had accepted the invitation extended by the volunteer villagers. The Wireless Building displayed the beginnings of electricity and radio and television and the demonstration of the Tesla Coil with the giant spark and great crackling sound was a big hit.  The Massie Station with its old and new radios kept the visitors intrigued. The demonstration of the telegraphers art coupled with the modern  interpreter showing the dots and dashes on a digital screen and transcribed as letters and numbers was a sight to see and fascinated everyone.  Food and drink was on the menu for all and with a variety to please any taste. A comfortable area with tables and chairs was provided for those that wanted to relax while eating.  Eventually the time to end the BIG DAY came and the nearby villagers began to take their leave of the small village with the volunteers who opened the village and their hearts to their neighbors.  Everyone went home happy to have had such a good time and vowed they would return again at the next BIG DAY.
Village Elder,
