Hi All,
Today we had a Spring day. The sun felt very good for a change but it was still chilly in the library according to Warren.
Colin stopped by today and conferred with Craig about the radio equipment in the Massie Blg'g. We are thinking of sponsoring a Tune Up for the radio buffs and Ham Operators in the area. The radio antenna was repaired and it tested OK but there seemed to be some problems with the radio itself which is surmountable. We at one time sponsored Tune Ups in the past and would like to do it again to acquaint the public with what we have to offer here at the museum. If you have any ideas as what is included in a radio type meet we would appreciate your ideas. This is something that will take some time to figure out and set up including advertising. I understand from Craig that there is a radio club in Newport that we could contact to get some information as to what they would be interested in as a draw to such a meet. Put on your thinking caps and and pass on any ideas.
In line with the above Tune Up plans we are looking into a call sign for the Massie Station that we could use for the station...something along the lines including PJ and advertised as the oldest station in the world.
The more I looked around in the office today the more pictures I found...there were a lot !! During a discussion about how to display what we have Dave suggested a picture scanner that would scan to a computer and we could print from that and add any text that we wanted which would go a long way explaining what people were seeing. We have a lot to figure out in this regard.
We thank all that participated today. We'll see you next week.
Regards,
LOU
