Hi all,
Another hot day today but the shade on the North side of the Wireless Bld'g was a relief from the sun. I was able to do a little painting while it was still early. I've found that I'm not as good at it as I once was. The mullions on the windows needed a prime coat which I was unable to do because I was so unsteady...so I just did the rail and framework.
Craig and Dave continue to work on the display cases in the Wireless Bld'g setting them up in chronological order from front to back. It is a slow process as the cases have to be emptied and the contents switched from one case to the other. A lot of care goes into handling the contents to avoid damaging anything. This particular project is nearing completion.
Warren and Tom have put the final finishing coat on the Steam Bld'g window frames which was decided to apply before the glazing was started..it makes it easier to do the final coat before glazing to help keep paint off the glass.
The hay field has been cut and the trim work around the roped off areas where the poles are will need to be completed. We wondered if a second crop of hay could be grown before Steam Up. We will have to wait on that but we will contact the hay cutter to be sure because if he isn't planning on a second crop we will have to keep the field mowed to give the vendors room to set up.
Cobweb control was started today in the Mayes Bld'g and will continue until completed so it will all be done before Steam Up. This effort applies to the other buildings as well. It seems the cobweb builders are working overtime!!
I don't know how many of you were aware that Tim was in the hospital this past week but I heard today that he is currently at home. Leaving the hospital behind and going home is a great relief in itself. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him soon at the museum.
Some brochures and Steam Up flyers were dropped off at the Tourist Center in Pawtucket. The manager there was very happy to give us space in the rack with the other brochures. She also mentioned she was telling others about the museum and Steam Up and how great Steam Up is.
Best regards,
Shaky LOU
