Stuart No. 9 Steam Engine Model

Stuart No. 9 horizontal Tangye-type, mill or factory engine of especially fine quality. 1 ½” bore, 1 ½” stroke. The model is complete with governor and butterfly valve, lubricators, belt pulley, and eccentric-driven boiler feed pumps.

Stuart Turner, the designer of this model, first produced a vertical engine, Stuart No. 1, in 1900, and castings for these successive Turner designs became available shortly afterwards; the castings for most of Turner’s designs are still sold in model shops in England.

The Tangye-type engine, with its overhanging cylinder and curved bed-plate typify British engineering design from the 1880’s through 1910.
