While waiting for visitors this past Saturday I made some<div>on air contacts with our Icom 706 transceiver and OCFD</div>
<div>antenna. The Ohio QSO party was going on. For the</div>
<div>non-hams in the group, a QSO party</div>
<div>is a ham radio event that involves making as many on</div>
<div>air contacts as possible with hams in one particular state.</div>
<div>Saturday was Ohio’s day.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>One contact I made was with station WC8VOA. This is the</div>
<div>Voice of America (VOA) amateur radio club. The club meets in</div>
<div>a beautiful building that was once a headquarters for the</div>
<div>Bethany, OH VOA station (the VOA is still active but this </div>
<div>building is no longer used by them). The building now houses</div>
<div>the VOA museum. It is impressive. You might want to take a look</div>
<div>around their website: <a href="http://www.voamuseum.org" target="_blank" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">http://www.voamuseum.org</a><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"> </span>
</div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Many of the exhibits relate to radio and TV, much as ours do.</span></div>
<div>
<div id="temp-enhancr-placeholder" class="enhancr-placeholder-medium" data-size="medium"></div>
<br>
</div>
<div>Many of their exhibits are related to</div>
<div>Crosley Radio which besides making radios (and cars and </div>
<div>refrigerators and other items) <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">h</span><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">ad their own broadcast radio station.</span>
</div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">WLW ( <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WLW" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WLW</a> ). WLW is still on the air.<div id="temp-enhancr-placeholder" class="enhancr-placeholder-medium" data-size="medium"></div></span></div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Once again, The National VOA Museum of Broadcasting </span></div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">website is at <a href="http://www.voamuseum.org" target="_blank">http://www.voamuseum.org</a> <div id="temp-enhancr-placeholder" class="enhancr-placeholder-medium" data-size="medium"></div></span></div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><br></span></div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">For interested hams you may want to listen for WC8VOA on</span></div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Sept. 24. On that date the club station will be on the air as a</span></div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Special Event Station. You will be able to contact them and</span></div>
<div><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">get a cool QSL card! See their QRZ page for more details.</span></div>
